Florence Revival: a blog

I'm finally creating a permanent home for Florence Revival.

Well, first of all, hello!

For about 2 years now, Florence Revival has been my Instagram page where I show up daily to share our adventures in DIY. But it's grown into so much more than just an Instagram page. It's become a community of friends that I'm doing life with! You guys cheer me on and help me make decisions on which chips to eat... and so much more! I'm excited to tell you all that I'm going to be dedicating more time to this blog.

Why a blog?

It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realized what’s changed is you.” - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Being on social media sometimes feels like I'm renting space and if you've ever rented, then you know that there comes a time that you want to settle down into a permanent home. And with the ups and downs of algorithm changes, being on social media can seem unsteady at best. Keeping up with what content will keep me relevant is more exhausting than I like to admit and I've considered walking away more times than I can count.

Blogs, however, have never been that way. They are solid and reliable (if you remember to pay for your domain lol). There's no ever-changing algorithm. Just content that you can consume at will. They're comforting, like being at home. That's exactly what this blog is meant to be. A permanent home for all of our shenanigans and projects both large and small. (If you're new here, welcome to my very first(ish) blog post. I'm kind of obsessed with beige trim and chips.) Don't worry though! I'm not quitting social media. This is just a permanent residence for everything we do.

What to expect

To be honest, I've never blogged. I've attempted a few posts here and there, but never been fully committed. I don't even know what exactly I'll blog about, but as Jared keeps telling me, I'll never get better until I start. So it may be a rough go, but stick around and we'll grow together! Be sure to subscribe to the right so you don't miss my life-changing posts. (wink)

Final words

Thank you for being here. There is no one else I'd rather share this space with than this community. You guys are the best cheerleaders, advice givers, and chip scouts a girl could ask for. You're the reason I show up everyday.

Katie (Flo)

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Hi, my name is Katie and I am the face behind Florence Revival. I am a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who has dreamt of renovating a home for as long as I can remember. But being a student for FOREVER, my husband and I had only ever rented and were constantly relocating for school. So I became an HGTV addict and lived vicariously through creators on Instagram.

Fast forward to when we purchased our first home...

Let the posts
come to you.
